“When I went to the University of Oregon, I was a student assistant, and Chip Kelly was our head football coach. Every Thursday, we’d have a team meeting with everyone, and he was just dropping gems and nuggets of leadership. And everything he would say, I’d be like, my mom did that. He said, amateurs advertise. Perfect example, go look at that story. My mom didn’t say, look how great I am. I’m going to go see this man because I’m the best person in his life. No, I need to go to work, honey. And then years later, I’m like connecting the dots. I’m like, which makes the story even more powerful. You’re like, what a bad, like I’m figuring out what’s happening after the fact, not because she’s boasting about it, you know? It was always these leadership lessons I learned from books from great leaders. would always, 80 % of them will go right back to my mom and how she acts and how she walks through life and her energy and passion, right?”
